Mascot/Symbol
Yesterday in the IRC, a few of us got onto the topic of patches, which then turned to a discussion about a mascot. A few of the ideas were an owl or an eagle. So, grandsons, should we have a mascot? If so, what do you think it should be? If there's something that hasn't been presented, but you'd like to see, then make your voice heard.

I think it should be an Eagle in some form. Represents freedom so well.

Re: Mascot/Symbol
Something I just thought of, recommended by Benjamin Franklin - a Turkey. If you can get past the "game bird" aspect, they're actually a more noble bird then the eagle. Franklin's reasoning for this is expressed in a letter he wrote.

Re: Mascot/Symbol
Heard about that years ago, and it's quite interesting. But I still vote for Eagle.

Re: Mascot/Symbol
I like the symbol of the minuteman. They are the pure representation of the defenders of freedom and liberty.

I favor the idea of the minuteman as well. The minuteman with the AR is pretty spot on, it would be great if we could get one of the artists from /k/ like Willis perhaps, to do the design.

And what better plan than a(n) (inter)national group of free men dedicated to the preservation of liberty?

The Minuteman is great way to go. We do not require the symbolism of an animal to send a clear message of strength and conviction.

Giving It thought, I agree PatientØ. As a whole the Minuteman would best reflect the interest of GoL. I've made my decision. ( I still like owls though.)

Re: Mascot/Symbol
Upon reflection, I too like the idea of the Minuteman as our symbol.
While the Eagle is a majestic symbol that I adore because I love my nation, we are a cause without borders as previously stated. We are also but free men who hope to remain that way. We are just people who hope to rally to a cause above all causes, such as a minuteman did hundreds of years ago.
Aye, the Minuteman gets my vote. He represents exactly what we are here for. To uphold freedom.

With patches in mind, I believe a small, recognizable silhouette would work great. Maybe of a minuteman symbol, as others have posted, but perhaps something more original. There are plenty of "prepper groups" that hold true to this minutemen concept. Yes, they played a key role in the fight for liberty, but isn't this to be a non-militia forum?
What about something that everyone can relate to, with regards to:
A) Freedom
B) Justice
and
C) Equality
Just my two cents.
